The Deputy Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. (Prince) Adedamola Richard Kasunmu (ARK), yesterday, 10th January 2026, hosted leaders and executive members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikeja Constituency 2 to a well-attended one-day strategic summit, aimed at deepening grassroots mobilisation, strengthening party cohesion, and enhancing organisational effectiveness.
The summit created a robust platform for the lawmaker to rub minds with grassroots party managers across the constituency, review ongoing party activities, and chart sustainable strategies for the growth of the APC at ward and local government levels.
By political structure, Ikeja Constituency II comprises 10 Wards across two councils — Ikeja Local Government and Ojodu LCDA.
With 27 EXCO members per Ward and per LGA/LCDA, the summit recorded the presence of over 300 party executives, reflecting the strong grassroots acceptance and strategic importance of the engagement.
The two-fold event commenced with the Ojodu LCDA session, which began at about 11:00am at the new Ojodu APC Secretariat. In attendance were the APC Chairman for Ojodu LCDA, Alhaja Stella Olusola Kokumo; her assistant, Comrade Gbemi Ololade; the Vice Chairman; other LGA EXCO members including the Woman Leader, Alhaja Bukky Badmus; as well as all Ward Chairmen and Ward EXCO members across the LCDA.
Councillors representing Ojodu Wards B, C, D, E, and F—Hon. Folasade Awolala, Hon. Lanre Fatuyi, Hon. Lanre Ogunnioki, and Hon. Abiodun Abbas Bismilahi—were also present, while proceedings were anchored by Comrade Babajide Salako.
At the Ojodu session, the Deputy Majority Leader also praised the highly respected GAC member in Ikeja Constituency 2, Baba Eto, Cardinal James Odunmbaku, for his courageous, consistent, and selfless leadership in the Constituency and beyond, acknowledging his pivotal role in stabilising and strengthening the party over the years.
Hon. Kasunmu also took time out to specially shower accolades on the Akorede-Atunluse of ikeja land Hon. James Abiodun Faleke for his generosity in donating the newly acquired building to Ojodu APC Secretariat, where the meeting was held. He described the gesture as a landmark contribution to party development and grassroots organisation, promising to keep emulating the man described by President Tinubu as the “leader of the orchestra”.
Speaking further, Hon. Kasunmu clarified that the EXCOs’ conclave was not an election-driven strategy nor a personal political ambition, but rather a deliberate effort to galvanise grassroots support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections. He stressed that Ikeja remains the political home base of the President, whom he described as “our father”, and noted that strengthening party structures in the constituency is both a duty and a collective responsibility.
Speaking at the Ojodu session, Alhaja Stella Olusola Kokumo, alongside her assistant, Comrade Ololade, commended Hon. Kasunmu for initiating what they described as a novel and timely summit, noting that such engagement further strengthens unity and coordination within the party. They also praised the APC EXCO members for their massive turnout, describing it as a clear demonstration of loyalty and commitment to the party’s ideals.
The summit later moved to the Ikeja Centre, where proceedings commenced around 1:00pm at the new Marriage Registry Hall of the council.
The session attracted top government and party functionaries, including the Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Hon. Akeem Dauda; the APC Chairman in Ikeja LGA, Alhaji Adekunle Dally-Adeokun; the party’s Vice Chairman, Prince Ranti Olufon; alongside other key members of the LGA EXCO.
Also in attendance were Councillors representing Ikeja Wards A, B, D, and E, including the Leader of the House, Hon. Rasheed Ogunseye; his Deputy, Hon. Shakira Jinadu; Hon. Idris Salami; and Hon. Tunde Folami.
Proceedings at the Ikeja session were anchored dexterously by the Ward A Chairman, Alhaji Saheed Ekundayo, whose coordination ensured a smooth and engaging deliberation.
At the Ikeja session, both Hon. Akeem Dauda and Alhaji Adekunle Dally-Adeokun commended the Deputy Majority Leader for convening the summit, describing it as a unifying and morale-boosting initiative.
The APC Chairman, in particular, thanked Hon. Kasunmu for putting smiles on the faces of party EXCO members, especially at the beginning of the year, when encouragement and motivation are most needed.
Adding further significance to the event, the APC State Assistant Legal Adviser, Barrister Adebola Ladigbolu, also graced the summit, lending strong institutional support from the state party leadership.
Addressing party leaders and executives at both centres, Hon. Kasunmu commended the APC leadership for their sustained efforts in mobilising members for the ongoing APC membership e-registration exercise, describing it as a critical step towards digitalising party records and aligning the party with modern technological best practices. He, however, urged leaders to intensify their mobilisation efforts to ensure broader participation by both old and new members across all wards and communities.
In a strong demonstration of commitment to the success of the exercise, Hon. Kasunmu announced a donation of four (4) tablet devices and two (2) printers, alongside a cash support of ₦2.5M to facilitate seamless and effective e-registration across Ikeja Constituency 2.
The summit was also marked by adequate food refreshments and cash support for all EXCOS present or absent, ensuring that the welfare of the over 300 party executives was well catered for—further underscoring the lawmaker’s people-focused and inclusive leadership style.
The event reaffirmed Hon. Kasunmu’s dedication to grassroots engagement, party unity, and capacity building, while further positioning the APC in Ikeja Constituency 2 as a formidable base of support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the party’s future electoral success.
The Deputy Majority Leader promises to make the summit a regular feature in his engagement with the party and the constituency going forward.
It was a beautiful gathering of key political actors in Ikeja Constituency 2.
